A night of Irish and Ukrainian Cultural Solidarity in Vicar Street, Monday 24th April @7:30 p.m.

This promises to be a lively, brilliant evening. Anyone who remembers Victoria Amelina’s visit to Dublin, hosted by Irish PEN and supported by Dublin, UNESCO City of Literature and Dublin City Libraries, will be glad to see her name on this programme. Victoria is compiling testimonies of war crimes in Ukraine and working on a project entitled “Looking at Women Looking at War”.
Just to refresh your memories, and to put forward some ideas about Ukraine, culture and memory,:
Her powerful essay on genocide and cultural memory, “Nothing Bad Has Ever Happened: a Tale of Two Genocides”was republished in the Irish Times earlier this year.“Homo Oblivious” was republished in the Dublin Review of Books in July.
This event is supported by the Irish Red Cross, Ukrainian Action and Fighting Words
